Writing "For Our Time"?

If one is gifted for, and does pursue, the writing of good novels, the question if he be writing "in our time" may be secondary. (It was, Certainly, not so for Cervantes.)

Not quite the same is true for authors of essays and satire.

Otherwise though, in the half-desert of some reception and little or no money earned, it is, at least for the better, more ambitious ones Necessary to ask: "Am I doing this righteously, Mainly, just for" our time "?

I have now decided in this context for the topic but not weiterzubetreuen means of numerous quotes from there and cross-references there, as I thought it spontaneously as necessary, but hereby set Part I and the subsequent thread and Parts II and III / III ( b) are known.

On the role of Sancho Panza as a special type of positive traumatized people, which I Part III (b) promised to say something in connection closer.

When I went to in 1988 at a major seminar on the history of interpretation of Don Quijote, I was deeply impressed, almost overwhelmed by how much the reception and interpretation of the work had ever epochal shift background due: every century had understood completely different.

All that is noble, all that is genuine, truth is sacred to him; his earthly pleasures inclined toward servant Sancho he always treated leniently; and when he complains a nobleman his suffering, his son had given up the right way from the study of theology in the direction of his passion for poetry, the Ingeniose not defended the young man in his choice in principle, but without the terms of the talent and sincerity to provide, as well as the trash poets mitzugeben the Seine. Otherwise, I recommend except Cervantes still the Brothers Grimm and Friedrich Nietzsche.
