Yes, the Scots are much easier to understand than the Geordies.
What the Swabian in the video arrives, so these are at very moderate Stuttgart High Schwäbisch, which starts from here (also here) in every direction with appropriate characteristics and many words and phrases that does not know the written German nor much hearty.
But I thought that I have the medium and low-Germans must be at least a residual chance to decipher.
Just two small examples.

If you thundered me to having to be anything other than Schwabe, and I had my choice, I'd Swiss (or possibly Baden).

Magnus, if you had told me two years ago, that we stop over in England, I would have considered crazy.
Because that was not intended, son. We had and have a completely different goal. We are still waiting for our green light for immigration to Canada, which unfortunately delayed due to the recession.
If it were up to my hubby, we now have a house somewhere in the Rockies with at least 10 km distance to the nearest neighbors, its own lake with boat dock in front of the door, several sets of rubber boots in the closet and a Winchester over the door: D
I admit, my wishful thinking is on something else. I think it's time for that is still quite nice to have the right and left neighbors. So a little bit of culture around it does not hurt. But my hubby thinks that everything can ultimately be reached with the pickup.

Plus, my husband as a civil engineer in Germany over 45 would get a job and more independence - with the associated loss of income from unpaid bills - we'd just behind us. The alternative, as Hartz IV-subsidized one-euro jobs to eke out our existence until retirement seemed to us not only unappealing, but purely and simply as an option.
Also, I am amazed at how beautiful it can live up here. There is indeed such houses, as you describe it. We have, however, very lucky and live in a really nice house qualitätiv good. One should however not go below a certain price range, you get only hovels.
We are pleased but still, if at some point everything is signed and sealed and we can return again. The Canadian way of life I miss.
