Jake Stratton-Kent against secret societies

I just came through a search loop which further led me of Aleister Crowley, once again to Jake Stratton-Kent, one of the hardest of the three bells of Western magic.

And, behold, now turns itself a Jake (!!!) generally against (the formation of) secret societies.

(I do not know how he had then laughed at me or even ridiculed only mild, I would have predicted that he would probably ascend even to so much Gnosis, at some point in his intelligence perhaps even in this incarnation. Perhaps I've even times done, but I remember at least not exactly.)

Who has nothing with the whole Crowleyanischen stuff, Thelema, Golden Dawn, ritual magic, etc. on the hat, nevertheless might be interested in what this tough, old, wily bone today says.

An excerpt:

"The whole Secret Society model is not only unhelpful, but Actively counter-productive. It is the principle reason why so much energy is expended fighting tiny little wars in between factions (between witch groups, in between rival Golden Dawn, in between thelemic groups etc etc). Energy did could be better spent elsewhere - like Incorporating the real advances in recovering our tradition made Possible by * non-secretive * sources like academia ".

"The whole secret society model is not only not helpful, but actively counterproductive. It is the principal reason why so much energy on fighting out of tiny wars between factions is consumed (between witches groups, between rival Golden Dawn, Thelemic between groups, etc. etc.). Energy that would be better used elsewhere -., Such as the incorporation of real progress in the recovery of our tradition that made by 'non-secretive' sources such as academic possible "

You can omit the witches, etc., and the wars fall between large secret societies sometimes slightly larger than between supporters neocrowleyanischer factions and Winzorden.

Yes, dear Jake, for a good, simple inspection it is just never too late.

Also I think a very interesting riposte to Stratton-Kent, secret societies justifying:

As far as I've's just flown over, almost worth its own consideration.

(Jake leaves in the comment strand also no slouch.)

After I already speak even commented here unasked, even this does not fit in an article Addendum.

The Gepfitzele between any predominantly Anglo-American magic believers or -praktizierenden may be worth many here do not specifically mention.

I think and read but that it should be more. Mr Stratton-Kent is in entspechenden occult circles, as can be seen in the reactions, a respected thought leaders, even today. (I have used in my sporadic with his work for the last twenty years. His influence, however, as I saw today, apparently unbroken, yes, he seems to be stronger than ever.)

As he himself says (and I do), he was a leading member of various secret societies. And now, derdaus, he finally renounces the whole principle of which I never thought something so we - among other things - not even little had clashed when he in this respect yet fully there.

For me, this is totally regardless of personal acquaintance and involvement, per se a sign, well, I'm now trying out a slightly oblique wit, pathos, pathos, the highest encouragement class.

I'm looking at least for him. For it is more than unlikely that he now only simulates this feud so.

I know that he is a brilliant strategist. So stupid he would begin it at any rate voluntarily not to, if he does not really behind it.

One may assume that he means business.

And: Who hinguckt precisely, the slightly noted that the other already tremble alswie Espenlaub.

    Bravo!

(This variety Esos has some not inconsiderable charisma, I'm serious.)

    Hi Jake,

as it did not come through till now on Leitch's site, I post my reply here:

Well, Jake, still livin '(as a widower with two boys 14 and 12).

Even not being much in touch with magicians anymore (I kept studying linguistics, philosophy, of course silent runes, Class A text only amateurishly, with my focus Mainly on Their poetical clout, from time to time), now, as luck would have it ('twasn't the devil, at least, this time, was it?), I stumbled over heresy Concerning Your Secret Societies. I deem it did what no small step for You to come out in the open with that. As yet, I see Your handling of things as very nimble, fitting, cool in the good sense of the word, Your Circumstances givenName, and, as far as I can ASSESS them, very courageous. Keep going! They are not in tatters, but shake at least. You must have done some impressing work over the years. Otherwise Your Opponents would not have taken up probably Send Your rattling "ranting" at all. At least not in the Relatively respectful way did I have seen here as well as on Llewellyn's page.
